About Hawaii
The Hawaiian Islands are a chain of 132 islands, shoals, and reefs extending over 1,523 miles in the Northeast Pacific Ocean.
Admitted on August 21, 1959, Hawaii constitutes the 50th state of the United States and is situated 2300 miles from the US mainland.
As one of two states outside the contiguous United States (the other being Alaska), Hawai is the only state without territory on the mainland of any continent. Interestingly, it is the only state that continues to grow because of active lava flows, most notably from Kilauea.
Today, the Hawaiian language is now being taught throughout Hawaii schools and the legacy of the Hawaiian monarchy is still revered.
Once a major hub for the whaling, sugar and pineapple industries, Hawaii is now economically dependent on tourism and the U.S. military.
The natural beauty of the islands continues to be one of Hawaii's greatest assets.

Calla
Common names: calla, calla lily.
A calla lily refers to plants of genus Zantedeschia in the family Araceae.
They produce large, showy flower spathes, therefore they are grown both as ornamental plants in addition to cut flowers.
Callas are large flowers with thick, waxy petals with solitary 6- to 8-inch flower heads that make excellent cut flowers or blooming plants.
Many hybrids are in cultivation, with spathes in varying shades of white, yellow, orange, red, or pink.
As a cut flower, vase life is seven to 10 days.
Special care: Water frequently plus cut stem ends every few days to prevent curling.
Hydrangea
Common names: hydrangea, hortensia
Hydrangea (scientific name: Hydrangea) is a genus of about 100 species of flowering plants native from Japan to China, Himalaya, Indonesia, as well as throughout America.
They can be either deciduous or evergreen, though more widely cultivated temperate species are all deciduous.
Four-petaled flowers grow in round clusters that are usually 4 to 8 inches wide.
Flowers bloom in white, lavender or pink.
While hydrangeas have been a garden or landscape favorite for years, they have become a popular cut flower to enhance garden-style flower arrangements.
