About San Antonio TX
The actual founding of the city of San Antonio took place in 1718 by Father Antonio Olivares, upon establishing Mission San Antonio de Valero.
The city was named for the Portuguese saint Anthony of Padua, whose feast day it was when a Spanish expedition stopped in the area in 1691.
The Mission San Antonio de Valero became permanently etched in the annals of history in 1836 as The Alamo where 189 defenders held the old mission against some 4,000 Mexican troops for 13 days.
Today, San Antonio captures the spirit of Texas.
Now the eighth largest city in the United States, the city has retained its sense of history and tradition, while carefully blending in cosmopolitan progress.
Amidst the daily hubbub of the busy metropolitan downtown, sequestered 20 feet below street level, lies one of San Antonio's jewels - the Paseo del Rio.
Better known as the "River Walk," these cobblestone and flagstone paths border both sides of the San Antonio River as it winds its way through the middle of the business district.
With over 300 days of sunshine annually and an average temperature of 68.8 degrees Fahrenheit, visitors to San Antonio will find an abundance of outdoor sports and recreation to challenge them.
The first public golf course in Texas was built in San Antonio in 1916, and the city has been busy hosting golfers since then.
Rivers in the Texas Hill Country, which forms an arc around the northern edge of San Antonio, provide venues for canoeing, tubing and white-water rafting.

Lily
Common names: lily, Asiatic lily, Oriental lily.
These showy, large flowered plants of genus Lilium are true lily plants.
They have a large showy flower which is six-petalled and is often fragrant.
Trumpet-shaped flowers grow to a 6-inch diameter.
Stems grow to 3 feet long, carrying four to eight blossoms, the sparse foliage is dark green.
Because blooms open at various times, most lilies live one to two weeks.
Flower colors include white, yellow, pink, red with orange; many have a deeper color (freckles) on inner petals.
Chrysanthemum
Common names: chrysanthemum, mum.
Chrysanthemum, often simply called mum, is a flowering perennial plant of genus Chrysanthemum in the daisy family (Asteraceae).
Chrysanthemums were cultivated in China as a flowering herb as far back as the 15th century BC.
Many flower forms are now available.
Stems may carry one flower or multiple blooms.
There are also spoon-shaped, quill-shaped, threadlike or spiderlike florets.
Used as either cut flowers or blooming plants, their colors include pink, yellow, red, white, bronze, magenta plus purple.
